If you're more computer competent, you can also find out how to get these for free (search), involves downloading software that can generate the FSC code (key) that's needed to activate the map updates. You can also get it for about $50 from several other places (check the Coding forum here on bimmerfest, several threads on Navigation updates) - easy download/install from a USB stick. Dealers generally charge about $400 for this (they won't update you on request for free/warranty). This is for new road data, it doesn't change the interface. BMW releases map data updates twice a year. My 2013 was updated by the dealer in 2014 for a transmission programming problem, and I also got some 2014 features like Siri support, Launch Control, Volume Indicator, modified Nav interface, etc. This may add features to iDrive that new model years have.
